Obituary for Tommy Gardner

Mr. Tommy Gardner was born in Florence, South Carolina on February 12th 1943 to the late Rainey and Sarah Gardner. He passed peacefully on the evening of November 16th, 2022, at Seasons Hospice in Milton Massachusetts after a gradual decline in health. Tommy was the fourth youngest child of thirteen children.

In 1966 Tommy moved to Boston, Massachusetts with his then wife Azaree Gardner and their three oldest children Wesley, Tommy, and Marilyn (deceased). While in Boston he landed a job at Harry Butter where he worked as a forklift operator until the company went out of business.

From Tommy and Azaree’s union, their family expanded with the addition of three more children Quint (deceased), Christopher, and Tomika (deceased).

Soon afterwards Tommy began working for Edwards Super Food Grocery Store as a deli supervisor until the company was converted to Stop & Shop. He also held a job at Star Market until he retired after 20+ years. In 1992 Tommy and Andrea Pierie-Louis welcome a bouncing baby girl Paula Gardner. Shortly after they were married and became a great stepdad to her other children.

Tommy spent his days with his family and he loved to go grocery shopping with his two surviving sisters; Beatrice English and Florence Cato. He also, loved hanging out with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren whenever he could. He loved watching sports when it wasn’t a Boston team, doing puzzles, and watching old western movies. Tommy was also a member and Deacon at Zion Apostolic Church. He was also a member of the Sons of Zion choir he loved reading his bible every day up until his death.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents: Rainey and Sarah Gardner: Son, Quint Gardner: Daughters, Marilyn Gardner, and Tomika Gardner: Brothers, John P James, Altee Gardner, and Willie Gardner: Sisters: Annie Mae Williams, and Carrie Lee Dillarid.

Tommy leaves to mourn his current wife: Andrea Pierie-Louis of (Brockton Mass): Sons, Wesley Gardner of ( Fall River Mass ), Tommy Gardner of ( Brockton Mass), and Christopher Gardner of ( Lynn Mass): Daughter, Paula Gardner of (Brockton Mass): Sisters, Beatrice English of (Dorchester Mass), Florence Cato of (Roxbury Mass): Brother-in-law Ronnie Cato of (Cambridge Mass): Sister -in-laws: Mary Hickman of (Medford Mass), Margie Adam of (Everett Mass), and Dorothy Cato of (Roxbury Mass): His bonus son, Shawn Prout of (Dorchester), An a host of grand and great children and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
