Obituary for Sedat B. Milcent

SEDAT B. MILCENT was born on the 15th of November 1957 in Marchand-Dessalines, Haiti. She was born to Marie Esteline Jean Charles and Barthelmy Milcent. Under the influence of her mother Marie, she grew to develop a strong passion for education. She completed her primary & middle schooling at the National Jacques Premier school. She went on to complete her secondary schooling at Frère Adrien Du Sacre Coeur while simultaneously getting a diploma from Madame Devarieu in Port-au-Prince in Haute cuisine et couture. After graduation, she returned to Marchand, her hometown, to become a teacher and to give back to her community. In her free time in Marchand, she enjoyed singing at churches and performing in plays at the theater. At the young age of 21, she got the opportunity to enter America to pursue her American Dream.

In America, she gave birth to her son Ernald. Her son was the center of her life and she never ran out of energy to provide for him. She was a compassionate, caring, dedicated, loving yet firm mother. To give her son a better life and show him the value of a strong education, she decided to pursue further education. She discovered her passion for nursing and became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She continued in her Nursing education to eventually graduate from MassBay Community College. With degree in hand, she went on to become a Registered Nurse.

Sedat never stopped caring about people. Her hand was always open to those around her and abroad. She loved everyone around her and her door was always open to all. She was a God-loving woman that loved to spend time with her brothers & sisters of the church. She enjoyed contributing to the church in various ways whether it be singing songs, serving as a deaconess, or supporting the church youth as a Pathfinder. After a long, hard fought battle with Parkinson's disease, God took her to rest on November 27, 2023. She will be sorely missed.
