Novella Payne, daughter of Richard and Emma Payne was born May 30, 1931 in Prince Edward County, VA. Novella was baptized at the early age of 8 years old. She attended school in Green Bay County VA. At 18 Novella started her first job at Longwood College in Farmville VA as a kitchen aide. Later in life Novella met and married Lee Mathew Adams (deceased). In 1959 Novella and Lee relocated to Boston, MA where she resided until her passing on November 27, 2018.

Novella was a quiet sweet person to all she met; she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She was given the nickname "Shook" by her parents. Novella enjoyed her life; being a housewife and babysitter to the neighborhood children.

Novella leaves to mourn her passing three daughters, Helena of Baltimore, MD, Josephine (deceased) and Lucille of Boston,MA, son -in- law Charlie Marshall of Boston, MA; 5 grandchildren, Jai of Boston,MA, Jalila of Abington, MA, Ronnel (deceased) Shawn and Lee of Baltimore, MD, 9 great grandchildren, Jaira, Calvin, Jalina, Imani, Symone, Shawn, Santana, Aubrey and Savion. Three great-great grandchildren and 1 sister, Florine Payne of Baltimore, MD and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A Viewing will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 2:00 to 3:00pm followed by Funeral Service at 3:00 in the evening at Riley-Antoine Funeral Home 171 Humboldt Ave., Dorchester, MA 02121
