Obituary for Margaret Ward (Wade)

Missionary Margaret Wade Ward transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 in Lynn, MA. Ward was born on January 19, 1937 in Tunica, MS to Callie Pearl & Otis Wade. She attended and completed her education in the Tunica County School District. Then they later relocated to Lynn, MA.

She then joined Mount Olive Church of God in Christ, which was led by the late Bishop Herman Wheeler Sr. She served on numerous auxiliaries over the years, including the Mt. Olive Senior Choir and Choir President, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Bible Band YPWW Teacher, Usher Board, Mt. Olive Christian Women's Group, and the Missionary Department. She was also an employee of Sylvania in Salem, MA for many years. In 1956, Missionary Ward married Cleo Ward, Sr. of Desoto, MS, until his death in 1993.

She was a scholar of the word of God. She accelerated in teaching and drew people closer to Christ. She was very loving, encouraging, and nurturing to everyone she encountered, but most of all, she loved the Lord. Her notable lead songs include "Your Grace and Mercy," "God's Gonna Give Me a Crown," and many more. She had a love for Chinese food, family gatherings, and church events. One of her many well-known sayings was "Chile Please" and “Can’t Nobody Do Me Like Jesus”. But most of all, she was an extraordinary mother to her children and grandchildren. She was also a confidant to many.

She leaves to Cherish Deacon Wade Ward (Tanya) of Springfield, MA; Elder Destry Ward (Marie) of Derry, NH; Clifton Ward (Melissa) of Beverly, MA; Eric Ward, Marty Ward, and Neverrea Ramsay (Rashaun) of Lynn, MA, Pastor Bruce Hampton (Cynthia), Eddie Ward and daughter in law Cynthia Ward, 30 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Sisters Annie "Peaches" Earvin, Dorothy Wade Widley, Patricia Ann Duckwarth, and Betty Joe White, all of West Memphis, AR; Mary Dugger of Memphis, TN; Alama Jean Morgan of Chicago, IL; Carolyn Nelms Birmingham (Bishop John) of Kansas City, MO. Brothers Jerry Wade, Patrick Wade, of West Memphis, AR, Tyrie Wade of Memphis, TN, and Stanley Wade (Elaine) of Houston, TX.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Callie and Otis Wade, husband Cleo Ward, Sr., son Theodore Ward, 3 sisters, Ruth Jones, Jessie and Ida; 2 brothers, Otis Jr, Robert Wade; Mother-in-law Mother Samella “Moma Sam” Ward, 2 sister-in-law’s Mother Annie Anderson and Mrs. Casine Collins. She also leaves behind a slew of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
