Obituary for Kern Colby Tyler

Colby Tyler was born on July 15th, 1984, to Barbara Pierce and Kern Tyler in Boston, MA. He attended both the Boston and Milton public schools.

Colby always had a love for cooking whether indoor or out. He decided to pursue his dreams and enroll in the New England Culinary Arts Training where he graduated and became a Master Chef.

Colby was extremely talented and had a science for cooking. He cooked delicious meals for his family and friends, however he didn’t cook for just anybody. He most definitely had to like you first, unless of course he was being paid for it.

Colby took pride in his innate ability to create culinary masterpieces. Not only did he create masterpieces that were one of a kind, he also had a unique way of including the ingredients down to the herbs and spices. Whatever you had a taste for, or you challenged him with, Colby was innovative in creating it. He made vegan meals, pescetarian meals, and exotic meals, which his mother so eloquently called “bougie” meals. When it came to cooking there was nothing he couldn’t master. He was always adventurous with his cuisines, and never afraid to try something out of the box. His dream was to open his own restaurant and food truck.

Colby wasn’t worried about a little competition either, especially when it came to his mother. The one thing he couldn’t stand hearing was that his mother cooked better than him. He had jokes about it too! For example, whenever he cooked a new dish, and someone would ask him “did you cook this?” his response would be “why is it good or is it nasty?” If you jokingly answered it was nasty, he’d quickly tell you “Nope, Barb cooked it”

After he created his masterpieces in the kitchen he celebrated with his favorite expensive cigar (the kind he didn’t like to share by the way), and a glass of his favorite whiskey. Once he had a couple of those, he turned into rapper MC Colby! Had had bars for days!

Colby was not complicated man, but in fact just the opposite. He was as simple as they come. He enjoyed fishing, family gatherings, and playing cards while talking trash with his favorite people. Although he would talk trash to anyone!

Colby was a loving, caring, and generous man. He would give you the shirt off his back, the shoes off his feet, and the money out of his pocket if you were in need.

Colby was a loving and devoted father to his children, Thiasie and Kiyas. There was nothing he wouldn’t do or any mountain he wouldn’t move for them.

Although Colby was taken from us too soon, his memory will live on, he will never be forgotten and will be forever missed.

Colby was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Albert & Mary Pierce, his paternal grandparents, Nathan & Rita Tyler, and Grandma Bonnie. His maternal uncles William Pierce & Gregory Pierce, and his maternal aunt Elizabeth (Tootsie) Pierce.
