Obituary for Joycelyn E. Warren (Sayles)
Joycelyn Eugenia Sayles Warren of Boston, beloved daughter of the late George A. Sayles, Sr. and Margaret (Sayles) Croxen. was born on July 22nd, 1938 in Everett, MA. She was the wife of the late Harold Warren. Joycelyn departed this life on November 11, 2021. She was 83 years old.
Joycelyn worked for the Boston Public Schools, the Dorchester YMCA and was self-employed as a Home Daycare Provider. She retired from the Urban League of Eastern Ma. in 2007. Joycelyn received various degrees in Early Childhood Development. She graduated from Bunker Hill Community College, Roxbury Community College and Wheelock College.
In her spare time Joycelyn loved to read, she enjoyed Arts and Crafts. She liked to sew and Joycelyn loved shopping, Joycelyn enjoyed listening to music and she was a connoisseur when it came to Chinese food. Joycelyn is lovingly known by her family as, “Barbara the Builder.”
Joycelyn is the beloved Mother of Warren E. Murray and the Mother-In-Law of Carla J. Murray. Joycelyn is preceded in death by her siblings George A. Salyes, Jr. and Thomasina Johnson.
Joycelyn is survived by two sisters, Marsha J. Croxen and Renee K. Ridley, one brother Wayne L. Croxen. One sister-In-Law Betsy Warren, one Brother-In-Law Robert Warren. As well as a host of nieces and nephews and friends. She also leaves her bonus daughters, Renee J. Washington and Donna M. Washington.
Masks must be worn and social distancing observed in the funeral home and church.
