Obituary for Irene E. Gerald

Irene Gerald was born on November 18, 1937, to James William Reid and Margaret Reid in Montserrat, West Indies. Her early education was at Wesley Primary School in Cork Hill, Montserrat. There she excelled at track and field and was considered one of the best runners receiving numerous accolades and prizes. She left Montserrat in 1960 and went to live in London, England, where she met Nathaniel Gerald and the two were joined together in holy matrimony on December 7, 1963. They moved to the United States in May of 1968.

Being industrious, she found employment with the New England Telephone Company, where she stayed until retirement. When Friendship Apostolic Church opened in June of 1969, Irene and Nathaniel were invited to attend, and Nathaniel became the first one baptized in the new assembly. She also was baptized and worked in the church until moving her membership to the Greater Bethlehem Temple Pentecostal Church in Lynn, MA.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents James and Margaret Reid, brothers James (High) Reid and John (Fred) Reid and sister Sarah White. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Nathaniel Gerald her children Wallace Reid (Beverly Williams Reid) Wilfred Reid (Judith Reid) Jennifer Buchanan (Brian Buchanan) Leroy Gerald (Kym Simms) grandchildren, Jamar’re Williams Reid, Jada Williams Reid (Wallace) Kaneesha Dallas, Leroy Gerald Jr. (Leroy) Stephanie Buchanan, Stacey Buchanan, Sandy Buchanan (Jennifer) Aaron Reid, Adelia Reid (Wilfred) great grand Amarre Reid (Jamar’re) Bryan Perry, Christian Perry (Stephanie). Cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances that will continue to celebrate and cherish her wonderful memories.
