Obituary for Gregory Emmanuel Gales

Emmanuel (Gregory) Gales was born April 11, 1972 in Dorchester, Massachusetts and departed this life on Sunday February 6, 2022.

Born Gregory Emmanuel Gales, Greg decided to use his middle name, Emmanuel, because he turned over a new leaf. Greg was NO MORE!! He was Emmanuel meaning, “God is with us”, NOW I’m with God”.

Emmanuel loved to eat macaroni and cheese and collard greens. So, it was clear why his favorite holiday was Thanksgiving. If you didn’t see much of him during the year, you were guaranteed to see him on Thanksgiving. He loved gathering with his family to eat (at least) two plates at his mom’s house. This was followed by a quick nap and packing a plate to go. At any given moment, when “Big E” was around, you knew you were going to have a good laugh. He would tell jokes about other family members or about himself. He, also, loved to watch horror movies and Jet-Li movies.

He grew up in an era when playing and meeting new friends meant playing outside and popping wheelies up and down Cawfield Street. That is where he met the love of his life Carol Pocowatchit and within that union, they had two children.

Emmanuel leaves to mourn his mother Annette Gales, father Phillip Holloman, beloved grandmother Veleria Gales, son Deshawn Gales, daughter Cheyenne Gales, grandson Jacobi Gales, brother Tyrell Gales, sister Nickisha Gales, nephews Desmond Gales, Greg Gavin-Gales, Tyrell “TJ” Gales Jr., niece Athena Antwine and a host of relatives and friends.
