Obituary for Glenda Young

Glenda Young was born on April 14, 1947, as the seventh of eleven children of the late Frederick and Louise Young. She was granted eternal rest and received her wings on Friday, November 11, 2022 - battle fought, victory won. The Lord has given, the Lord has taken away, Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Glenda grew up in Boston and attended Boston Public Schools. She worked for many years at a Nursing home where she enjoyed taking care of patients and worked at the Rockwood Early Education Daycare Center.

Glenda an avid aquarium fish “tanker” found joy and peace setting up tanks and selecting fish: she also loves Bowers and bright colors. She has the personality that could light up any room – very much the extrovert – loved people and never met a stranger and was known by many and treated everyone equally. A woman who loved her family and always put family first, enjoyed cooking, family get-togethers, shopping with her niece Sonja and one of her greatest joys were her grandchildren. Theron says, “especially him!” She would often go out of her way to help others. She was great with multi-tasking and providing a helping hand whenever needed. If you asked for her opinion, be ready for the answer as she would let you know exactly how she felt!

Glenda will be sorely and deeply missed, but will forever remain in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. Those preceding her in death include her parents – Frederick and Louise Young, siblings – Joanne “Mary,” Frederick T. “Bubby,” and Dorothy and Life mate—Ned Drayton.

Glenda leaves to cherish precious memories of wonderful and joyous times: Daughters – Tida, Tanya, Tinea and Tashea; Grandchildren – Theron, Traleese and Tanae; Great Grandchildren – Traylyn, Theron Glen, Jaleese, twins – Taesaun & Jasaun, Elizabeth and Zariah; Siblings – Lore a, Norma, Sandra (James), Audrey, June, Lorraine, Denise “Niecy” and Maxine; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

We love you, but God loves you best.
