Obituary for Edith Elizabeth "Sister" Allen

Edith Elizabeth Allen was born on July 31, 1947 in Franklin, NC to the late Early and Elizabeth Allen. While in North Carolina, Edith attended the B.F Person School until she moved to Boston, MA. In 1957 she continued her education in the Boston Public School System, and raised 5 beautiful children. Edith departed this life early Tuesday morning October 4,, 2022.

Edith worked as a CNA for many, many years. She spent 17 years at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home until she retired in 2012. While on retirement, she went back to work part-time as a care giver until she moved to Brockton in 2020. Edith loved caring for people.

Edith was a very strong, hardworking family- oriented woman. Edith was also a grandma/aunty to other family members and always had an open heart for people whether it was family or friends. She loved to cook, have family gatherings - especially during the holidays; Christmas was her favorite. She also loved her old school music. Her favorite song was Lenny Williams (Because I Love You). Edith would go above and beyond for her family. She was a kind lady who - even the extended family.

Edith was a loving mother, grandmother, auntie, sister, niece, cousin, and friend to everyone around her. Edith’s love, comfort, security and passion will be greatly missed.

Edith is survived by her loving children: Edward, Eugene, Lisa, Archie, and Nickiea; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grands; siblings: Rose, Thurston, Vinnie, Annie, Marlon, Barbra, and Curtis; a host of relatives and in-laws.

Edith is preceded in death by her parents Early and Elizabeth Allen; her granddaughters: Chantel Williams and Latiesha Allen; great grandson, Jamaury Allen; her brothers, Eddie and Roger Allen; and sister, Della Allen.
