Obituary for Crystal Citirah Blake

Crystal Citirah Blake, daughter of Maria Rowe and Denovan Blake, was born on July 25, 1990 in Boston, Massachusetts. She departed this life on October 15, 2022.

Crystal was a very educated individual receiving most recently her Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Management from Cambridge College. Earning this degree at age 30 was a big accomplishment for her. In her words, “It’s never too late to get something done!” She worked as a FEP Claims Processor at Blue Cross Blue Shield, and a Mental Health Coordinator at a facility in Needham, MA. Her greatest accomplishment was becoming an entrepreneur of her brand “Blazin Mellow Free”.

Crystal spent her free time staying connected with close family and friends. She was like a child at heart, enjoying life by simply having fun and laughing even if that meant jumping on a trampoline with one of her godchildren or visiting an amusement park. Crystal loved to travel and create memories with those she cared and loved. Her most recent trip was taken with her brother, Akeem, and close friends to celebrate his birthday in California. Family and friends describe Crystal as ambitious, loyal, caring, loving, encouraging, and full of life. Her tragic and sudden death has been described as sad, premature, and most of all, a feeling of her having so much more life to live. But Matthew 5:8 says, “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.” And for those of us left behind enduring the pain of this tragedy, the bible says in Matthew 5:4, “Blessed are
those who mourn for they shall be comforted.”.

Crystal is preceded in death by her grandmother, Ruby Carter (Barbados), and great-grandmother Citirah Blake. Crystal leaves behind her mother, Maria Rowe (Florida) and father, Denovan Blake (Boston); grandparents, Arcay and Maureen Blake (Boston), brothers: Akeem and Tahe Roxton (Florida); Jared and Jaden Blake (Boston); aunts: Selma Rowe-Harvey (Boston), Margaret Alleyne, Candice, Clesyl, Cheridah, Shirnell Walcott (Brooklyn, NY), Olga Walcott (Maryland), Maureen Williams (Georgia), Mona Sargeant, Jennifer Parris (Barbados) and Pam Walcott (Maryland), Susan Worrell (London, England), Delvanee, Jenice, and Sonia Blake, Janice Jarett (Boston), Velma Brown (Georgia); uncles: Dave, Ernest and Kelvin Rowe, Maurice and Arcay Blake Jr, Kenrick Harvey (Boston); Henderson and Kenneth Rowe (Barbados), Carlos and Norville Hoffman (England); nephew, Amere Rowe (Florida), dog, Leo, and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

May God grant her eternal rest and may light perpetual shine upon her!
